Gathering Hall
People coming to a ceremony first arrive in the Gathering Hall. It is the place of home on site, the space where family and friends unite, tell stories, laugh, cry and embrace each other.

It is also the gateway to the sacred heart of the site.

It is an illogical seven sided form. The atrium vortex of the Reciprocal Frame is capped with a clerestory roof to reduce its power and retain a sense of intimacy.

The central open space is surrounded and protected from external view by the kitchen and toilet facilities. Vertical slot windows onto the courtyard naturally inform individuals of the direction of the next part of their journey.

The doors to the courtyard open beneath an overhang to provide wet weather protection and a place for smokers.
