Haiti Rebuilding as Eco-Villages

The project teaches local people earthquake-resistant construction and sustainable technologies through a hands-on training program which has been devised to expand on an exponential basis.

A generic 8 metre diameter earthquake-resistant Reciprocal Frame building has been designed for this purpose and may be used individually as a home, or clustered together to meet a myriad of community needs from hospitals to schools. Further designs will be created by local people during the project in response to local needs.

The initial design and its construction methods will be tested and approved at PEER UC Berkeley.

The dwellings will not be connected to centralised services. Each building or cluster will have its own water collection, purification system, power generation and composting sanitation.
